Decades ago, it saddened me to attend a women's meeting with two of my Irani sisters. Married to their Uncle/Brother for many years, they felt I had to see some things for myself.
A woman, fresh from Iran, stood up and belittled the group's theme of independence for all. saying that woman have "half the brain of a man" so she was lucky to have a husband to take car of her. It brought me to tears. It pissed off my sisters.
As so many know, this attitude had/has been widespread. It heartens me to see my sisters standing as the value that they are. I am not Irani, have not right, perhaps, to comment in this way, but for my sisters' sakes, know that there are many... MANY... who feel the same and gladly support what is right and true. Thank you, Laya.
