Hot Chocolate Cheers

“I really want to pop over to the Chocolate Factory for a hot cocoa,” Emily thought, as rain pelted the windows, driven by the onshore winds. She had been a bit disappointed by the fact that everything seemed to be closed for the winter. Good thing she had stocked up on groceries before making the trek out to the cottage.

“I love the quiet, but a lovely creamy mug of steaming hot cocoa…” Their website clearly stated that the Puffin Café would not be open until after Easter and that was weeks away. Emily’s holiday would be over. “Another missed opportunity,” she mused, only to rally, heading for door, rain gear, and the hire car. “Darn!” The weird thingie that functioned as the car key was still upstairs. Removing her boots she pelted up the creaking stairs, noting as she did so that the rain seemed to be abating.

“Ha! At the very least I can watch some chocolate being made, and grab some samples! That ought to change…something.” Emily grinned as she began her adventure. Inching the car onto the narrow track out toward the Wild Atlantic Way, she breathed a moment of gratitude for this time taken, to be what she needed to be, doing only what she felt like doing. When had she ever done that before?

The road wound along, only 7 kilometers or so to the Factory, but slow going nonetheless. A bit too far for a comfy walk in this wind. Emily was grateful for the…
